• Left Bank (Southbank)

Missing the late night meanderings and inevitable adventures of the everyday that make travel so captivating,  I walked down Southbank one evening to realise: Melbourne ain’t that bad.  The destination was Left Bank and passing the beautiful Yarra with buskers and artists lining its banks, one could only be in a good mood.

Sitting outside in the sun, we ordered drinks – dark beer and rose – and appreciated the cool atmosphere with energised music, well dressed waitresses and an after-work vibe of thank goodness the day is over.

I ordered pizza.  It was one of the only vegetarian options on the menu.  Margherita.

The pizza was nice.  A gut-filler but tasty enough to enjoy with a strong tomato base and fresh basil.

We shared chips.  Crunchy and more-ish.

Let’s be honest, you are not coming to Left Bank for the food, but it was still good enough for me to return a few weeks later and have a Zucca pizza, which, again, was tasty, this time with the strong flavour of pesto amongst the pumpkin and spinach.

It is the atmosphere that makes this place a winner.  The look is stylish and modern, as are the music, staff and crowd.  A good location to build up the momentum before a fun night out dancing.
